But a demo version would boost the pre-sales. The pirates can't convert a (limited) demo version into a full version. That's true. No demo version, has to do so more with marketing, rather with piracy, IMO. There is a reason why they made so many sound demos (targeting EDM with some of them), some videos and the limited time offer as well. To capture potential buyer's interest and without a demo version, one will trust these and might justify the expense to buy it. I'm not saying this is some kind of scam, just a way to market something and exploit someone's S.A.S.

Oddity2 is the successor to the multi-award winning Oddity, modelled on the legendary ARP Odyssey synthesiser, manufactured between 1972 and 1981. During its lifetime the Odyssey, due to it's versatile and distinctive tones, was used by artists as diverse as Gary Numan, John Foxx, Herbie Hancock, Kraftwerk, Chick. Past Life Regression Cd Download more. (Allow me at this point to introduce the term Software Acquisition Syndrome). If the demo was available, some potential buyers might do a comparison with their favourite soft synth or even the older version and will not find it so appealing. Then SAS will go bye bye So, i'm not sure that a demo will always boost pre-sales, it depends.

I have to say that while I upgraded my copy of impOSCar. It's pretty rare that I use it. I'm not saying it's bad, or that it wasn't worth the upgrade price, but I kind of feel like GForce has kind of missed the boat. There are just so many good VAs out now. And with a preponderance of good hardware analogs and VA that start at $300.

I guess I just feel like, 'how many softsynths does a human need?' ImpOSCar 2 wasn't an 'earth shatteringly good' new analog emulation, and judging by the demos, Oddity 2 won't be either. Again, not saying they're bad, but they're not setting any new bar.

Make me a demo that sounds like this: and I'll whipping out the credit card. In fact, if anyone from GForce is lurking, totally replicate that demo. DOUBLE DOG DARE! Also, it doesn't have any groundbreaking features.

Or even a featureset that's become fairly standard in the software synth world. Wasn't he Odyssey was a 2 osc hard-wired version of the 2600? If so, one could easily surmise that if one had a 2600 emulation then they have an Odyssey emulation and more. So add to the fact that I've got 2600v (which I quite like) and timewARP. I imagine most softsynth users interested in the ARP sound would already have one of these.

Plus, Korg is going to do a re-release and Studio Electronics offers a ARP filter version of the Boomstar (which is also in my ATC-X) (I know, they're monophonic) So. I may have bitten if they did a no-brainer upgrade price.

Like say $29. I'm not saying it isn't worth that but the demo version better make me happier than the posted demo tracks.

I agree that the demos songs are limited and they don't stray far from one genre. But the people in those few genres are the one's shelling out money for this kind of soft synths right now. The Demos did let me know that the oscillators and filters are on point. That is the main thing. I know this because I have a mkIII that I bought new in 1978.

So I know it very well. I'm very excited about the polyphonic mode and having more instances to work with. George Duke and Chick Corea fusion leads, hear I come. The interface is a massive improvement. Beautifully done. I can now read it properly at higher resolution.

Been having a lot of fun with the 'Lake of Richness' preset. Also 'Ice Cool Pad 01' in the Pads and Strings bank 1. Really eerie and haunting sounds that you wouldn't normaly associate with this bass/lead/fx machine. With polyphony. Can't wait to get a controller hooked up and start using more than two fingers. Every other preset is a gem so far. Quite a few of them as well.

Incredible work all round. This is going to get a lot of use. Well, what are the 'Odds' of that. 'Lake of Richness', very funny!

Certainly no 'lack of richness' in the sounds here. I just started reading the manual, and as usual, it's a damn good read. GForce make the best manuals in the biz. I found that thread by the way. I honestly never knew about those shenanigans.

And I swear that Lake of Richness was the first preset I randomly selected. I even made a track out of it. Before I read the manual. I only opened it up to see if the gui can be resized a la impOSCar 2. I won't say any more, but suffice to say, if you bought Oddity 2, you really should read the manual. Like I said, what are the odds of that?

Yeah, this opens up a whole new realm. I loaded up a load of presets I made for v1 and they are working fine.

Mainly raspy, grunty basses and leads. But it seems like a waste now to just use it for that. There's gonna be a lot more said about this one, for sure. Such deep sweetness in a lot of those presets I've tried so far.

It's like two totally different synths in one. This isn't just an upgrade. This is a whole new synth. Absolutely astounding. It opens Oddity1 presets?

Did not know that. I LOVED the oddity and still use it all the time, looking forward to getting this.

It opens Oddity1 presets? Did not know that. I LOVED the oddity and still use it all the time, looking forward to getting this.Yeah, it opens them perfectly. There are even some new versions of the v1 presets as well and these have the 'O2' suffix. A lot of time and talent went into making these new presets.

They are excellent. There's a lot of them too.

Another labour of love that does the instrument justice. The strings this machine can come up with are just what the doctor ordered. I often find with strings on synths that they get 'lost' in the mix and need a bit of 'brightening' up. I don't use string libraries very much, but sometimes they aren't any better. But the famous 'rasp' and 'edge' that the Oddity has is kind of there in the background helping the patches cut through and making them seem alive.

So, basses, leads, Fx, strings and even a bit of FM thrown in too. Some of the bells are top notch. Again, this thing cuts through a mix like nothing else. But it can sit in a mix and be well behaved too. I'm working on a bank to share, taking the best of the ones I did for Oddity v1, and tweaking a bit. Lots of basses, winds, sea, seq-like s/h stuff. Probably not up to the standard of the patches included, but eh, change one slider on this baby and your whole world can turn around.

Extremely satisfied with my purchase/upgrade to Oddity2!

Worth every penny! The Oddity is one of the few virtual instrument plugins I still use (and I own a real Arp Odyssey). The Oddity2 is MUCH more than just an upgrade, it's a complete overhaul. The only wish/request that I have is to have the ability to disable the delay globally (the Oddity2 sounds great dry - no need to drench everything w/effects, like most of the 'crappier' VSTs out there).

GREAT JOB GFORCE!!! Thanks for putting so much hard work into the development of this one!:-) -T.
