Hon Garena Offline Installer

Yesterday my brother introduced me to a great new game, which has a linux client. Before I go into any further details, I have to tell you that the game is currently in Beta. I was lucky enough to get a key from my brother, so that I could join the game online. I'm not sure how easy/difficult it is to get these keys.

If you already have an account, you may download the client now and play on any computer. Before you can enjoy Heroes of Newerth, you will need to have a player account. If you do not have one yet, create your account now. HoN is available for Windows, OSX, and Linux. Please select the client you would like to.

OK, on to my little review:) The name is Heroes of Newerth ( ), and it basically is a stand-alone Dota. The same guys that created the Dota Map for Warcraft 3, S2 Games, have decided to create a stand-alone client of the game, and so you dont need Warcraft 3 to play it anymore. The game is essencially still Dota, but there are a couple of key differences.

First thing I noticed is the graphics and animation, It's really good, really smooth, and just feels right, and on my machine, the game runs beautifully in Ubuntu. Since I played Dota a couple of years ago, I'm quite rusty, and I was having a hard time initially.

Especially figuring out the items in the shop and hero abilities. Most of the Items are basically the same, but they have diffirent names, and recipes. Many of the old heroes are in the game, but of course, their names have changed etc. On my Ubuntu machine, I did not encounter any bugs, other than the ones that the windows client also has. I also tested the in-game voice over chat, and it works great, without me having to set anything up.

A friend mentioned however, that the voice from my side is a bit crackly, but I suspect that's a issue with my hardware in ubuntu, and not the game itself, since I could hear other players normally. Other than the bit of crackle, they could hear me fine. Overall this game is Awsome, and I'm really happy that it includes a Linux Client. I certainly think that Ubuntu and Linux Gamers should give this game a go, and while at it submit bugs etc (since it's still in Beta).

PM me your email, and ill send an invite. Also, after installing 9.10 karmic, i lose sound in HoN as soon as i enter a game, and it doesnt come back until restarting the the application. Is anyone else experiencing this? This makes me mad b/c i though these kind of sound issues were a thing of the past after jaunty. Yes, same problem here - I've talked with fmod people, they said they will be testing it with ubuntu koala.

Please post your system specs here to help diagnose. You can use to get it. I really, really hate when people talk about something they don't know like they do know. S2 GAMES DID NOT CREATE DOTA. S2 GAMES PLAGIARIZED DOTA. THE CREATOR OF DOTA IS ICEFROG.

HE IS THE FREAKING GENIUS BEHIND ALL THIS. HE HIMSELF STATED THAT HE IS NOT INVOLVED IN THE CREATION OF HEROES OF NEWERTH. So, yes, this game you are supporting came from something unethical. IceFrog should take the whole credit for the idea, and yet, ****** people think it's S2 Games idea AND yet say it out loud spreading this ********. I do admire IceFrog. He is handling the situation very well.

I would have exploded long ago. I hate when someone else takes credit for my hard work. And that's hard work. I can't even imagine how many nights he lost making DotA the great game it is. Why don't you actually respect his opinion and not bastardize it? If you respect him so much, don't put words into his mouth. PM me your email, and ill send an invite. This makes me mad b/c i though these kind of sound issues were a thing of the past after jaunty. Yes, I'm experiencing the same problem. It almost seems like it is overfilling the sound buffer and then not deallocating, because I can almost make out a sort of echo, like it's re-reading the last few bytes of channel sound. I'm no expert on digital sound systems, but that echo before it collapses is a bit of a problem. Also, I would like to note that before the release of Heroes of Newerth 1.52.0 (either today or yesterday) it has been having this problem, as I played on Karmic with 1.51.1 and it worked fine. So maybe it's just Heroes itself? Ah good to know, its my varsity connection so i can't be sure - guess that leaves me with disabling voip a less than ideal solution.

I read on the hon forums though that someone improved performance by disabling compositing, I'll try that later because I'm using metacity with compositing enabled. I don't expect it do make much difference though. I've also read a post that says the sound crashing can be averted by setting quality to low and might be unrelated to the connection.

EDIT: btw when my sound starts dying all sounds are garbled including game sounds, if the sound error was related to my connection I'd expect only the voip sounds to be affected. I'll post some results tomorrow. The video card drivers for your video card are better for Windows than Linux at this time.

Play the game in Windows or hopefully the intel drivers would mature some more. With the previous set of Intel video drivers, the game would not even load. So they are making progress.

I got problem with the video of HoN. When I play the game, it will only display black screen and health bar(including bars for map and etc). I cant see a thing in action panel. Difference Between Serial And Random Access Memory Definitions on this page. Anyone got solution for this problem? Or where i can start looking for the fix? Im using Intel Chipset.

And so far, on windows, it run well on the same machine. I attached the screenshot of what i see during HoN practice match for all of you to have clear view of my problem.

Lol im not entirely sure what u mean by this. What i think u mean is to write that into the terminal and then paste it into the launchpad bug. Thats what ill do. But you havent answered my other question.

Does the game lag for you? Are there any settings i should modify to fix ocassional choppyness? EDIT: I cant run that command in the terminal. EDIt x2: Anyone else who is experiencing these problems: I have been able to fix both. My game no longer lags and the sound does not glitch. Here is what i did to fix the sound (First I turned off ALL Effects on my PC): - Turned off the microphone - Reduced Sound quality To fix graphical issues: I turned off 'post processing', 'Refraction'.

And 'foliage'. The game runs 100% smooth now. EDIT 2: after some tweaking i have found that the above options (pp, refraction, and foliage) can be kept on. Its just that desktop effects need to be turnedo off. As soon as i start my game it shuts down without an error or anything:( How can i find out what's wrong? EDIT: I managed to run it from the terminal, found the error: ~$ '/home/charlie/HoN/hon.sh' warning: The VAD has been replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite K2 - Fatal Error: OpenGL 2.0 not available. Bad graphic drivers?

I got a frikkin intel card, dunno how to install drivers:( 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03). Greetings all, I just installed ubuntu today and was trying to install HoN on ubuntu. I ran the install file and when I type in sh HoN.sh, I get an error message back saying: The VAD has been replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite K2 - Fatal Error: ARB_shader_objects not available. If I run the HoN.sh script from a GUI window, a black screen just flashes momentarily and that's it. Can anyone help me with this? I'm using an old Dell computer with a ATI Radeon X300 128 MB graphics card and 1.5 GB of RAM on a Pentium 4.

Do I need to install special video drivers for the card maybe? I can't help you with technical issues but I have something for all those who still need a key: (Though you should know that already, it's the first result in google) And don't forget to deactivate compiz. You'd think everybody would know, Surprisingly, I've been looking for a key all day and didn't see this website, than when you noticed it was the first on google, I looked to see if it was, apparently I did click on it.wierd I didn't see the fact they still had 1000's of keys to give away. Edit: Don't know if anybody can help me, but im getting the following error: warning: The VAD has been replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite K2 - Fatal Error: ARB_shader_objects not available. Than it just sits at a black screen, I'm on a Dell Laptop with an Intel 950GMA Video Card (Probably the problem) but just wanting to make sure, is there anyway, I can get this to work? Apparently, I'm really bad at HoN, and I just **** off everybody in every game I go into, So who knows when the next I'll play it:p.

I'll just stick to FPSs and Single Player RPGS Hence why I dislike the majority of the HoN/DoTA community. Even in the 'noob' games you get cussed out for trying to learn the game and this leads to a rather unpleasant player experience. I did try it out towards the end of my summer. I may reinstall again later tonight or so to see how it's going because I do like the game.

It's apparently a problem if you have mic enabled. Fmod, what they use for their cross-platform audio is having troubles if its both listening and outputting sound. Anyway I've contacted fmod support and to my surprise they are looking into the issue at my request.

Thanks, you just got my sound back in HoN! For others with this problem (sound disappearing/flickering when you join a lobby/game), just disable VOIP (in the voice tab IIRC) and set record device to 'null' in the sound tab (IIRC too). Awesome game! Just gotta fix the issue with lower FPS in karmic vs jaunty, and I'm all go. It seems that now HON allows beta tester to invite their friend to join. From this page can somebody invite me?

My email rd1381(at)yahoo.com i hate these marketing campainge they do.:( just let anybody who wants to test it. But noooooooooooo. Fist no-talking-in-about-it-beta then closed beta, then friends only closed beta.and so on. Invitation sent!!!

Check your email or forum inbox!! 5 invitations left!! If you want it, send me a Private message. Running 9.10. Installed via sh 'hon_installer_from_their_website.sh'. When i try to open HoN (from the icon, app ->games ->hon.) it does not launch. Dragging the icon to terminal yields this: robin@robin-deskbound:~$ '/home/robin/.local/share/applications/s2games_com-HoN_1.desktop' bash: /home/robin/.local/share/applications/s2games_com-HoN_1.desktop: Permission denied tried with sudo, no dice.

Mine installed fine, plays fine, but its all in german i believe and i can't figure out how to change it =( when you run the game and before you enter your account details in th bottom of game screen there are pictures of counties that change the game language so if you just click on england map, after a brief transition your interface becomes english. For your second question: i dont know cause i hadn't played this game yet. I know its good that a company shows interest in linux gaming but the software is very very buggy. Like when i quit sometimes it doesnt quit and i have to go to a terminal and kill it (and not from my current console i have to switch to another tty cause mouse is stuck in the game).and updating the game hanges it so i cant update to see if this issue is fixed either( and to top it all in their website they only have offline installer for older version ) but this software is still in pre-alpha stage( its not beta, don't foll yourself) so i shouldn't be surprised that much.

The original announcement link in Chinese (Garena Taiwan link): Rough translation of the first three paragraphs: During December, we (Garena) were attacked by unknown cyber-criminals. Technicians' computers and the patch servers are infested with Trojans.

As a result, all the installation files distributed by us for the games 'League of Legens' and 'Path of Exile' are infested. The players who recently installed the games are affected.

After we found out about the problem, we have scanned all hardware and updated all the files. As of now the problems have been resolved. Up till today, we have no evidence suggesting that personal information (Credit card number, account information, and names) has been leaked.

We will continue monitoring this. Meanwhile, we made sure that player information on our servers are now protected. The rest of the announcement is a step by step process telling players to scan their computers and protect themselves, and hence not translated. What a baller hack this was • hacked into the patch server, not only gained access to the server but could also modify/add files • created a custom payload that would deliver software, which would run either natively or at least within the patcher and perform independent functions • triggered the modified payload to patch to countless numbers of systems, to the scale that garena needed to make a public statement that's a damn fine hack if I do say so. I wonder how long it was able to operate before ganera engineers dug it up • •.
