Oh i know running Aero won't work, but if you notice, there is a limited functonality that does take place. Aero snap and shake both work even on the basic settings for the visual and theme for windows 7.
What i was wondering if it is possible to have drivers that do work properly so if i do have a video running in VLC or WMP, my PC doesn't freese if i try the Aero snap. I can understand if i can't have OpenGL drivers and such. I think it is a shame that Intel can't provide driver set for these legacy devices considering that there are many good computers that can run Windows 7 fine. I have got problem playing game in OpenGL, D3D or Software mode. For example Quake 3 or Half-Life. I play the game a bit then the game slows than for 2 or more minutes. Then it is back to normal. But again it does the same thing and more frequent. I have tried everything that I can. I have formatted harddisk, installed windows and necessary drivers and I havent installed any other program, to test it without any program working on background.
But it doesn't solve the problem. I have the latest drivers and DirectX. I have tried to change the rams' slots or using them one by one it didn't help. Anyone can suggest an idea.
This is definitely the wrong laptop to play games. And the chipset is EOL thus you hardly get support. However here we go:. CPU overheating: Some laptops are awefully designed (even brand laptops) and cannot cool the unit in extreme situations.
If the CPU get's too hot, it gets throttled automatically. In these cases you see a dramatic slowdown as soon as a certain temperature is reached. In the throttle case your CPU temperature will be >70C and the CPU clock much lower than your maximum core clock (1,6GHz? First make sure you do not suffer from these problems by installing NHC.
There is also a Dell specific version: or if you're more advanced use RMClock (free version sufficient): As soon as you see the slowdown, swith to Windows and watch temperature and CPU Clock in system tray. If you suffer from overheating, NHC can solve it. Google for 'undervolting pentium-m nhc'..
Bad drivers: You won't get more recent drivers due to EOL. If you are an advanced (make a backup first) user, you may try the IEGD 8.0 drivers. They are more complicated to install and maintain - their are intended for embedded solutions. Standby/Suspend and such things may not work as expected any longer.
However they contain more updated DirectX and OpenGL drivers: BTW: wrong forum. Intel doesn't have end user support regarding those issues. Both solutions above are neither tested, advised or supported by neither Intel nor you OEM vendor. Regards, 7oby.
