So here's what I did over the weekend; bought Steinberg Walnnut Pro from Matt. All fine and quick download and support response from him and he was quick to answering some of the questions I had. I follow the instructions for unpacking the 5.rar files and bam.
It keeps on saying file 5 incomplete so I can't go further. I download part 5 again from the site and try again. Still same message.
So I e-mailed Matt explaining my situation and that I was stuck with no product this way, asking if he knew what was going on or if he could help me.Matt is nowhere to be found. I give it another day, mail him again. Matt is nowhere to be found. I mailed him about three times asking for help. I really don't know what to do now.
Really sorry to hear he's been ill. It must be really hard for single-guy developers. But i'd still never buy a sample set from the guy as he just doesn't seem able to fulfil his obligations. Hope your issue eventually gets sorted.
Matt just posted on VI Control - he was unwell but is back at it again now, so it seems everything should be back to normal (Matt always had fantastic support previously).Hi, I'm very sorry for the delay to my replies last year, I was taken unwell unexpectedly. Everyone affected has been sorted and I'd just like to assure everyone that all emails are being answered and back to its usual fast rate! If you need anything at all, please email me at info[at]imperfectsamples[dot]com and I'll get you sorted quickly.
You can compress lossless up to 2:1. Beyond that, you're getting into mp3 territory. I listened to their demos and thought I heard something similar to aliasing in the samples. I was wondering if I was imagining this, until I read that they heavily compress all their VIs for delivery. Not sure what u are hearing, but I've owned most of the libraries out there, and honestly believe the Ravencroft by True Keys to be the best thing I've heard and played. Playable, singing qualities, rich, and excellent sounding. Best software piano investment I've personally made, can't speak for anyone else. I can't comment on Imperfect Samples though, because those Steinway Walnut and Fazioli samples do sound amazing as well.

And/or misinformed. Vienna does a proprietary 10:1 compression. Toontrack does 3:1.
Every single company offering a downloadable product compresses for delivery. I don't know what you think happens upon delivery, but mp3's have nothing to do with this - they are compressed and LEFT that way. VI Labs and the other companies mentioned only compress for delivery's sake. And if you are going to go into this 'aliasing' nonsense, it will be time for me and many others to break out the rightful use of the good ol' facepalm. Sorry, you are just plain wrong. Of course there are limits to the fidelity upon playback of a file in a compressed state. Compressing something to send it, then expand it is mathematically a 1:1 process. Not at all the same. Not sure what u are hearing, but I've owned most of the libraries out there, and honestly believe the Ravencroft by True Keys to be the best thing I've heard and played.

I know the actual release for the general public was supposed to be today I believe. And not sure if that special is through today or ended yesterday.
I've used almost all of them. Muktha Kannada Serial Cast. My main genre is modern singer songwriter pop/rock stuff. Piano in Blue: This is the one I find myself going to the most.
It is organic enough to sound like a real Piano but is just processed enough to sound produced without too much struggle. Emotional Piano: This is another favorite. Seems to work better when you want a more intimate sound or have a slower song going.
Very subtle and deep sound but mixes well without much argument. Can be a little tricky to get the sound right at first. Galaxy D: My one gripe with Galaxy is how overly produced and processed it can sound.
All the presets are over exaggerated and it's hard to find a comfortable medium between 'OMG it's so bright' and 'it's muddy as heck.' It does sound great but I usually end up going to something else more organic. Maybe I haven't spent enough time with this one. 8Dio: Their pianos just don't sit well in any mix for me. They sound good but for the life of me they sound terrible when I put them in a song and inserts don't help. Don't get me wrong it seems like a high quality instrument but I every time I try it I end up using something else in 2 minutes.
I don't think I've ever actually used it on a final mix. Which is sad. Imperfect Samples: If you want raw and organic this is on that extreme end of the spectrum. Personally I rarely use it because it can take a lot of inserts to 'clean it up' unless the track calls for a seriously organic piano sound. Personally I found that when I need that sort of vibe, the piano in blue does a better job for me. Still raw but not so much that I can hear every annoying thing the piano is doing.
EZkeys - Shockingly this sounds really good. Kind of like a less processed sounding Galaxy D. If you need a budget piano that is not a resource hog this is MY PICK. Orange Tree Rosewood - This is actually a great library that sounds very balanced except there's this weird overtone that I can't dial out. Makes it unusable.
Huge pity because otherwise this would be a top 3 piano for me. Very balanced sound that retains a lot of the best qualities of the pianos above without sounding too extreme toward any direction. But like I said, totally unusable. Sampletekk - I've only tried a couple of their pianos but I can safely say that these are a bit similar to Imperfect Samples, but slightly less raw sounding. They aren't quite on the same level as some of the above libraries. But they are okay. Synthogy Ivory - Very good libraries that sound pretty balanced to me.
Not sure what I would compare it to. The voicing is very neutral. But it's not as 'authentic' sounding as stuff like Piano in Blue or emotional Piano to me.
